First Advent

Advent is very important to German culture.  Every family has advent candles in their homes that they light at meals.  Every Sunday, they light a new candle.
The pyramid in the Kyle's house.  The candles make the entire pyramid spin.
 Advent wreath.

2nd Christmas market of the day.

So cute.

Out and about Berlin

Just a few pictures around my neighborhood.
 Subway station.

 My host brother's soccer game.

 On the S-bahn.

 Wannsee station. (by Kyle's house).

This is where I live.  Love the colors!

 My favorite bakery.
 Church by my house.
 S-bahn Station.
This is where my day starts.
Christmas at KaDaWe, a department store in Berlin (much like Macy's).

Döners!

Another wonderful Berlin speciality.  Much like a gyro.  (or so I've been told.)

Thanksgiving [German Style]

This was the turkey.  Neither Kyle nor I had even cooked on before.  It was scary.  haha.  But turned out wonderful!
Kyle drying the turkey after it's long night in the salt water bath.
 Kyle cutting vegetables!
 Stuffing the bird.

There is a turkey under that foil.
 Pumpkin pie!
 Checking the turkey for doneness.
 Delicious!

 Mash potatoes.

 Un-stuffing the turkey.
Taking out the rubbish to the compost pile.
 A table for 14!

The delicious food!  Rolls, turkey, green bean casserole, stuffing, corn bread stuffing, cranberries, and mash potatoes.

Everyone loved it!  Even the 2 year old!

Currywurst!

Currywurst is a local speciality in Berlin and is very delicious!  Basically it is cooked sausage cut into pieces and topped with curry sauce.  And you can get it with french fries.
